The early kick off in the Sky Bet Championship this afternoon sees Yorkshire rivals Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds United meet at Hillsborough in what is sure to be an intriguing fixture.

The Owls have made a great start to the season and have clear aspirations of at least making the top six, with there also being a chance of gate-crashing the top two as well come May.

Leeds on the other hand continue to show heart and desire on the pitch, led by the passion of manager Steve Evans.

The clubs have met on live on Sky before, and there have often been talking points during and after the fixture.

In 2012, Chris Kirkland was famously attacked by a Leeds fan who managed to get on the pitch, while in the 2013/14 season, Wednesday hammered Leeds 6-0 in front of the cameras. Evans will certainly be keen to avoid a repeat of either episode!

FootballLeagueWorld writer Lee Connor identifies three to look out for in this afternoon's big Yorkshire derby...

1) Sam Byram's last game?

The attacking full back is one of Leeds' better performers and despite reports a deal has been agreed with Premier League side Everton, he may well still be available for Saturday's showdown.

If he is available, it will be a bonus for Evans as he looks to guide his team to win in Sheffield for the second consecutive season following last year’s 2-1 win over the Owls.

Byram will be key to any victory Leeds wish to achieve, and Wednesday will have to be on their game to stop him, whether he plays full back or down the wing.

2) Fantastic Forestieri

Fernando Forestieri has been in superb form since making the move to the Owls at the beginning of the season, and it certainly seems like money well spent.

He has bagged 11 goals already and scored an absolute beauty in the midweek win over Bolton Wanderers, rifling the ball into the top corner from all of 30 yards.

It is hard to see anyone stopping him when he is on his game, and if Forestieri plays well, it will be difficult to see anything other than a Sheffield Wednesday victory.

3) Derby day passion

It is well documented the history between Wednesday and Leeds, and both sides will be eager to get the victory.

Leeds will bring with them a strong vocal support, while if Wednesday can fill Hillsborough, it really can be a great arena to play football in.

Add to it the ingredient of Evans and his shall we say "touchy” relationship with Sheffield Wednesday and its supporters, and we could be in for a cracker of a game.

Owls and Leeds fans... what do you think the score will be? Is it set up for a cracker? Where do you think your clubs will finish, regardless of today's game? Let us know your thoughts and opinions in the comments below!
