This forthcoming Sunday, Garry Monk's Leeds United travel to Loftus Road, to face Queens Park Rangers.

These past few years have been bitterly disappointing for both teams. Following relegation to the second tier, last year was the season QPR were meant to romp to the promotion.

Granted, a shift in managerial departures and the departure of talisman Charlie Austin to Southampton didn't really help proceedings, which saw the R's culminate in a 12th place finish.

However, with a full preseason under his belt, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink will now know how to get the best out of his players, especially his new recruits, as he looks to fire the London club to a promotion charge this term.

Finishing one place below the R's in 13th place last campaign, was Leeds United, who definitely look a team on the ascent with Garry Monk at the helm, after what has been several gruelling campaigns of late.

It is set up to be another interesting campaign for both clubs once again this year, and here, FLW writer George Harbey identifies THREE things to expect, in Sunday's fixture....

Kemar Roofe to exceed expectations

Kemar Roofe

Following his arrival from newly-promoted League One side Oxford United for a fee worth £3 million, many have questioned Roofe's ability to adapt to the harsh, gruelling Championship environment for this forthcoming year.

The 24 year old, who won Sky Bet League 2's Player of the Year last term, was subject to serious interest from highly rated clubs this window, however it was Monk who captured the signature of the clinical forward.

For sure, it'll be very interesting to see which position the former Swansea manager chooses the versatile forward to occupy, whether leading the line, on the right flank, or behind the striker, I for one can't wait to see Roofe in action on Sunday, and lighten up the Loftus Road turf.

The central areas of the pitch will be hotly contested on Sunday, and will be where the game is either won or lost for either team.

Hasselbaink has bolstered his midfield with the additions of Charlton's Jordan Cousins, and Legia Warsaw's Ariel Borysuik, and the pair will no doubt be a threat to the Whites' midfield duo Toumani Diagouraga and Alex Mowatt.

Mowatt and Cousins' flair and attacking force will be heavily inflicted upon in the game, whilst Borysiuk and Diagouraga will surely come to blows.

This should shape up to be a proper opening day atmosphere.

An attacking, free flowing game, with many chances.

Both managers, known for their attacking prowess, will be looking to implement their style massively on the game this weekend, as both teams look to repay the fans, and most importantly regain form after what has been a dismal last couple of years.

Monk, whose tactical philosophy is based on an attractive, possession style of play, allows for one or two of his players to bring their individualism to the team and create moments of magic by themselves, something the likes of Mowatt, Roofe and Stuart Dallas will thrive upon.

Hasselbaink, when managing high-flying Burton, saw his team hit the back of the net 25 times, before departing for the R's in early December, playing possibly the best football in the division, that ultimately culminated in automatic promotion.

And with Leeds' traditional magnificent away support, it'll be a cracking atmosphere at Loftus Road this Sunday, with hopefully a fantastic game to watch for the neutral.
