On Saturday, MK Dons make the long journey northwards to face one of this seasons surprise packages Preston North End.

Both teams were promoted from League One last season but they have played out two very different seasons.

MK Dons, who gained automatic promotion on the final day of last season after North End let their grip on 2nd place go, have suffered this season sat just 22nd in the table, nine points from safety.

Preston on the other hand have come as a shock to everybody with how well they've done currently occupying 10th place, where the play-offs are reallistically now out of their reach.

This weekend when the two sides meet we expect a good battle after their promotion rivalry last year.

Here are THREE things FLW writer Tom Rawcliffe thinks you should keep an eye out for...

1) MK Dons' awful form

The Dons go into this one in torrid form after losing their last 4 matches conceding 10 goals.

They are also without a win in 6 and will be looking to put an end to their horrible form at Deepdale by taking home the three points.

However, with just 2 wins on the road it seems very unlikely especially for a side who have scored just 15 goals away from home.

2) PNE undefeated against Dons

Since MK Dons were founded in 2004, Preston North End have never lost a competitive game to the Dons and they will be hoping to keep that record going on Saturday.

Preston have come out on top the last two times they have met but all 4 games between the sides played at Deepdale have ended as draws.

However it could spur the Dons players on as they will want to be the first MK Dons side to ever win at Deepdale but it won't be an easy ask.

3) Beckford & Garner

Last season in League One the Jermaine Beckford and Joe Garner partnership contributed 45 goals to Preston North End's season and Garner was actually a scorer in the away win at MK Dons.

After recieving the League One Player of the Year award for scoring 27 goals, he has somewhat struggled for goals this season with just 6 to his name.

However, he has been without Beckford pretty much all season after his knee injury which only saw him return a couple of weeks ago.

He has since made 4 substitute appearances to ease him back him into first-team action. It does now seem that the Jamaican may be fully fit and may be ready to start the game and reunite the Garner and Beckford partnership from the off, causing trouble for Dons defenders.
