Preston North End and QPR find themselves in very similar circumstances as they go into this fixture.

Preston sit in 10th on 52 points so far this campaign and have just a slight glimmer of hope to sneak into the play-off places. However, sitting 7 points of Sheffield Wednesday in 6th, that task could prove very tricky.

Queen's Park Rangers sit one place below Preston in 11th position in the Sky Bet Championship. On 50 points, 2 below their opposition, they will be keen to win the game and overtake Preston in the league standings.

Both sides are obviously not in any danger of a last-minute relegation battle but they are both, similarly, extreme outsiders for a play-off finish.

As a result, this game could produce many goals and an exciting match for two sides who seem to be heading towards similar endings to the season.

Here are THREE things you should look out for in the Preston North End v QPR game...

1) Preston's home form

Preston have had a good run at Deepdale in recent months. The Lilywhites have lost only one of their last nine games on home soil (W6 D2) and will be keen to replicate that again when they take on Queen's Park Rangers.

Simon Grayson's side won all three of their home fixtures in February - most impressively versus Sheffield Wednesday in a 1-0 win.

Their home form is definitely something that they should look to take into next season given the amount of points they have picked up at home as teams find it hard to leave Deepdale with any points.

QPR will find it hard to break down a very hard-working Preston North End side who always have the full backing of their supporters who will be hoping to see their side finish the season with a flourish at Deepdale.

2) Queen's Park Rangers' goal scoring form

The Hoops have had a mixed bag of results this season, like many other teams in the Sky Bet Championship.

Nevertheless, their attacking threats have been in great form in the last few weeks - scoring 7 goals in their last 3 wins.

Their most impressive victory came against promotion candidates Derby County in a 2-0 home win for Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink's side. Derby have only conceded 35 goals all season which somewhat typifies how dangerous QPR's attacking threats can be.

As a result, the likes of Junior Hoilett and  Tjaronn Chery should be players to look out for in this fixture as they bid to overtake Preston in the Sky Bet Championship standings.

3) Differing history between the two

In most fixtures, there is usually a side who has had the upper hand in past times. But, in this fixture, that could not be further from the case.

For Preston, they do not boast a good record against QPR in recent times - having won just one of their last 11 games against the Hoops (D6 L4).

However, there are positives for the Lilywhites as QPR have failed to win at Deepdale in any of their previous nine visits (D5 L4), last winning there in February 1980.

One things is certain, this tie could go either way given their similar league positions. To add to the mix, the history between the two could not provide for any more uncertain reading. As a result, you should definitely look to this game for its shear unpredictability.
