Preston and Charlton clash at Deepdale tonight with both sides in very differing circumstances.

Preston are flying up the table and currently sit in 10th position having lost only one game this year and with three wins on the bounce, their fans are hopeful of a play-off push.

Charlton are sitting bottom of the table with only one win this year and six points off safety, and there is chaos in the backroom.

Charlton's backroom has been causing controversy this season, and their owner Roland Duchatelet has been beckoned with increasing calls to leave the club with widespread protests from their fans.

Charlton's major problem this season has been attack and are one of the division's lowest scorers with only 17 goals.

Makienok and Lookman have been their top scorers and after the departure of Tony Watt, there is no goalscorer at Charlton which may lead to the club's relegation.

Preston only have 30 goals this season with Daniel Johnson their highest goalscorer and striker Joe Garner starting to look more suited to this level.

But the Lilywhites' defence has been excellent this season and have only leaked 29 goals, which is one of the lowest tallies in the division.

New strikers return for Charlton

As I have said one of the biggest problems Charlton have had this season is scoring goals, as they have no natural goalscorer available to them.

But tonight after a layoff, Igor Vetokele returns for the Addicks in attack, and he was their top scorer last season and has been widely unavailable this season due to injury.

He will be joined up front by promising young French striker Yaya Sanogo who is on loan from Arsenal and at his young age, he has already played in the Champions League.

Wenger often pushed him in the first team without much result but now he has been loaned out to the lower leagues to get some first team football.

Preston's march towards the play-offs

Preston were expected to partake in the relegation dogfight at the bottom this season, after their promotion last year, but they have been the surprise package this season.

Despite struggling initially, they have won three games in a row, giving their fans belief that they can push for the play-offs.

The success has been built on their strong defence and now that strikers Joe Garner are starting to fire, there is no reason why they can't push for the play-offs.

Charlton in the last chance saloon

charltonnnn

Maybe a bit of an exaggeration but they are six points off safety and games are quickly running out.

Their confidence is shot after the club's demolition by struggling Fulham and the relationship between fans and boardroom is beyond repair.

The players must start showing some fight as they don't seem up for one so far, at this rate they're getting relegated with a whimper and must start a recovery as soon as possible as we enter a congested period of games.
