Nottingham Forest will welcome Brentford to the City Ground this afternoon looking to get their season back on track.

One win in eight league games has seen the Reds plummet from a safe mid-table position down to 15th, where they are now being eyed-up by the teams fighting relegation.

One of those teams are Dean Smith’s Brentford, and a win for them in the East Midlands this weekend would see them join the Reds on 46 points.

Forest are set to be bolstered by the return to fitness of Henri Lansbury, who could start, and Britt Assombalonga, who could feature in a squad for the first time since February 2015.

For the Bees, Josh McEachran is likely to be missing for the rest of the campaign with a broken foot, whilst fellow midfielder John Swift may miss out with an Achilles injury suffered on international duty with the England Under-21s.

FootballLeagueWorld writer Lee Clarke gives us three things to look out for in this afternoon's game...

1) Henri Lansbury and Britt Assombalonga

The injured Forest duo will offer their team a much-needed boost by being included in a match-day squad together for the first time in over a year.

Lansbury has been missing since January, whilst the ex-Peterborough United striker hasn’t kicked a ball in anger since injuring his knee in February of last year.

Lansbury has been sorely missed in the middle of the park for Forest during their current barren spell, and his return is a massive boost.

Although Assombalonga is expected to start on the bench, his influence in and around the dressing room could be massive as the Reds go in search of a much-needed victory.

2) Alan Judge

One of the standout performers of the Sky Bet Championship season so far is Alan Judge, and he will be hoping to leave the City Ground with all three points at the weekend.

The ex-Notts County man has been widely tipped for a move away from Griffin Park during the summer and, on current form, it is easy to see why.

Judge has netted an impressive 14 goals this season from a right wing position, and it doesn’t really bear thinking about where the Bees would be without his goals.

Expect another energetic performance from the little Irishman this weekend as he looks to appease his former club County in getting one over Forest.

3) A win either way

Only Rotherham United have drawn less games this season than the seven games in which Brentford have earned a share of the spoils.

This says to me that the Bees stick to their principals of playing on the front foot and will not be in the mood to come to the City Ground and ‘park the bus.’

Forest are desperate for a win themselves, and interim coaches Paul Williams and Andy Reid have previously stated a desire to see their team attack their opponents, playing higher up the pitch.

Based on both sides styles of play, you have to say that despite the lowly league positions of the two sides, this could be an entertaining encounter at the City Ground this afternoon.

A win for either side will go a long way to ensuring Championship football again next season, whilst a defeat will make for a few more nervous weeks.
