3 things to look out for in the Middlesbrough vs Charlton Athletic match

After their cup heroics during the week, Middlesbrough turn their attentions back to the Championship as they host managerless Charlton Athletic at the Riverside on Saturday.

Here are THREE things to look out for in the game:

1) Boro players and fans will be on a high

After going three games without a win or a goal, Middlesbrough look to be gaining momentum after beating Wolves last weekend and then beating Premier League giants Manchester United on penalties on Wednesday night.

Few would have expected the Teessiders to have gone to Old Trafford and come away with a victory and The Riverside will be buzzing with anticipation as Aitor Karanka’s men look to start climbing the table.

All eyes will be on Boro after beating United and they will be looking to continue the momentum that they have generated from the last two games.

2) A Charlton side low on confidence

The Addicks haven’t won for nine games and while they will want to show interim manager Karel Fraeye what they can do, their confidence is bound to be low after that run.

They dropped into the relegation zone as a result that run and then they lost their manager as Guy Luzon was sacked. The Londoners are low on confidence and they could really do with a result, something which isn’t going to come easy at Middlesbrough.

They will probably approach the game quite defensive and desperate not to concede but if Boro do score, their heads will probably drop and it will then be about keeping the score down.

3) Boro could go on to win the game comfortably

If Aitor Karanka’s side score an early goal, it could be a tough afternoon for Charlton and we shouldn’t be surprised if Boro win the game quite comfortably.

They’ll be on a high after their shock victory over the Red Devils and, with the fans behind them, they’ll be keen to show everyone that they have regained top form.

The Teessiders haven’t lost against Charlton in eight league games and that record doesn’t look like ending on Saturday.

Middlesbrough and Charlton fans…what are you predictions for the match? Will Boro build on their result against Manchester United? Can Charlton end their dreadful run? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
