Relegation-threatened Charlton Athletic travel to Hull City in the Sky Bet Championship this afternoon in a second versus second from bottom clash at the KC Stadium.

Points are crucial to both teams this afternoon for very different reasons. Steve Bruce's Hull are second in the table after a mid-week win and want to keep that momentum and try and cement their place in the top two.

Charlton on the other hand are fighting for their lives at the bottom end of the division and, after a mid-week drubbing at the hands of Huddersfield Town, are desperate for points.

Worse than the on-field disaster is the chaos that is going on behind the scenes. The Addicks have re-appointed Jose Riga this week, replacing sacked interim manager Karel Fraeye.

Hull City have just one win in the previous eight matches against Charlton Athletic, but go into this one as firm favourites for victory.

FootballLeagueWorld writer Anthony Yeo identifies three things to look out for in this afternoon's encounter...

1) Charlton Unrest

Charlton are a mess and as a football fan I sympathise with the current situation at the Valley.

The majority of Addicks fans have had enough of the club's administration and in particular Dutch owner Roland Duchatelet.

Charlton fans have become increasingly angry at the owners and fellow board members, and protested outside the ground in mid-week, with more protests expected today.

All this distraction is not good for the team, especially after the 5-0 hammering at Huddersfield.

Riga has a hopeless task ahead of him at the Valley.

2) Abel Hernandez

Former Palermo striker Hernandez has come back in to scoring form having got three goals in four games.

27 appearances for the Tigers with a 13 goal return is very impressive, and he will be eager to get at this leaky Charlton defence.

The striker is on course to surpass his goal tally for last season, and it may be enough to return Hull to the top flight at the first time of asking.

3) Charlton defence

The defence at Charlton have conceded 47 goals so far this season - the most of any side in the division.

With only one win away from home and the apparent lack of ability to stop the opposition from scoring, it makes the trip to Hull a daunting one, especially as the Tigers have lost just once at home all season.

If Riga has any chance of keeping the south London club in the Championship, the defence needs sorting out immediately.
