A Yorkshire derby takes place today when Sheffield Wednesday make the short journey to take on Huddersfield Town in what is a crucial game, especially for the Owls and their promotion hopes.

Carlos Carvalhal's side ran out 3-1 winners when the sides met at Hillsborough in November this season, and the Owls would definitely take a repeat of that result and performance.

For the Terriers, revenge and pride will be on their mind as they look to reverse that result and prevent the Owls completing the double over them.

Wednesday are unbeaten in three, and haven't conceded a goal in those three games, and will be looking to continue this good run. Huddersfield meanwhile are inconsistent, but come into the game off the back of a 4-1 win over Leeds United last time out, so will surely be in good spirits.

FootballLeagueWorld writer Lee Connor identifies THREE things to look out for during the game today...

1) Owls solid defence

Three successive clean sheets has see the Owls cement their top six place, although they are not quite there yet in terms of securing a shot at the end of season play-offs.

If though they can keep as solid at the back as they have been recently, then they will definitely be in good shape going into those end of season games.

Keeping goals out wins you games, and teams are finding it hard to break down the Owls' rearguard, especially of late. Manager Carvalhal will no doubt be stressing the importance of this, and will be hoping his side deliver a fourth clean sheet in a row today.

2) Nahki Wells

The pacey striker is the top scorer for the Terriers this season with 16 goals to his name already, and looks to be on course to hit 20 come season end.

The Owls defence will have to be on their guard against one of the league's best marksmen, and if Wells has a good game, it could well be a long afternoon for Tom Lees and co.

Huddersfield will be hoping Wells can deliver again, and hoping even more that they can hold onto their star man come the summer, with interest already brewing if the rumours are to be believed.

3) How does the history look?

The Owls are undefeated in their last four fixtures against Huddersfield, and the Terriers will be looking to put that correct today with a win.

Since the 4-4 draw at Hillsborough in 2012, the Terriers have only taken two wins off of the Owls in eight outings, something which fans will be keen to see improve to give them something to shout about in terms of Yorkshire pride.

The full history guide favours Town, with 24 wins to the Owls 17. However, with the way Sheffield Wednesday are playing of late, you would not put it past them making it 18 today.
