The Addicks have just one win in the last six matches and as a result are at the foot of the league table, with time running out to save themselves.

Jose Riga's men are seven points from safety and it looks a tall order for them to drag themselves out of trouble. They need to start winning games to have any hope of staying up, starting today against Reading.

The Royals come in to this match on the back of a narrow victory over struggling Rotherham United, and have the opportunity today to record rare back-to-back wins.

Charlton lost the away game at Reading and now with them even more desperate for the points, they will hope to avenge that narrow away loss back in October.

FootballLeagueWorld writer Anthony Yeo identifies THREE things to look out for in this afternoon's encounter...

1) Charlton's appalling home form

Charlton have the worst home record in the Championship, and it is no wonder that they are currently bottom of the division.

They have failed to score in five of their last eight home fixtures and have not won at home this calendar year. Charlton also have the worst goal difference, and have only kept one clean sheet in the last ten games.

Points are needed and perhaps a visit of a safe mid-table side like Reading might provide that chance to pick up maximum points.

2) Johann Berg Gudmundsson

Although they lost against Preston North End, they did play quite well, and Gudmundsson scored his first goal since August after putting in a great display.

The 25 year old Iceland midfielder scored a goal and set up Ademola Lookman and Jorge Teixeria, but both fired wide as Charlton looked and played without fear, with only defensive frailties thwarting their efforts.

If Charlton are to make an escape from the relegation zone, another performance like the one against Preston are needed.

3) Reading's lack of goals

Reading have kept three clean sheets in a row but couple that with only scoring three goals in their last six matches tells you why they sit mid-table in the Championship.

Brian McDermott's side have mustered up just 34 league goals this season and, apart from the cup games, they have had trouble finding the net.

Today they face the leakiest defence in the Championship and will hope to create and take some scoring opportunities and kick start themselves, with the hope of moving up the table.
