Cardiff take on Blackburn Rovers today with the welsh side looking for a return to winning ways, after a poor festive period.

sladeeeee

Cardiff City lost two and drew one over the Christmas period and have lost a little ground on play-off pack. They now sit in 10th, six points behind Ipswich Town.

Blackburn Rovers had an equally disappointing run of results and hope for better fortunes in 2016. They sit 16th in the table and will be looking at investing in January with the intent of pushing up towards the playoffs.

Cardiff have not been beaten in the last five clashes between these teams, wining two and drawing three.

Here are THREE things to look out for on the match between Cardiff City and Blackburn

1) Cardiff City Stadium pitch

Unusual I know, but Cardiff players have been complaining that the pitch it cutting up, making it difficult to play the attractive football, according to Cardiff winger Anthony Pilkington.

So it will be interesting to see if the pitch is that bad, or if its just a ready made excuse should Cardiff not play well.

We shall see if Blackburn Rovers complain about the pitch if they get a result this afternoon.

2) Craig Noone

Craig Noone is one of the best wingers in the Championship and on his day he is unplayable, and a huge asset to Russell Slade's side.

Cardiff have under-performed of late and Noone has not be on top form, but Rovers will still need to keep him under wraps to get something from the match.

Noone will be looking to add to his goal tally netting four times in 24 games.

3) Jordan Rhodes

Rhodes has scored nine goals this season but has not scored for seven games and today would be a welcome boost for a return to goal scoring form.

The Scotland international has been a huge success since his £8m arrival from Huddersfield Town and in 2012 but seems to have struggled with Paul Lambert's methods.

Rovers fans will be hoping that this is a temporary hitch and that he starts hitting the back of the net again soon.
