Brentford host Derby County on Saturday as both sides are looking to get back to winning ways after suffering a number of disappointing results in recent weeks.

wassalllll

The home side are without a win in their last three games and have conceded seven goals in their last two without reply.

That run has seen them drop to 13th in the Championship and they find themselves eleven points behind Saturday's opponents, who occupy the final play-off place.

While the Bees form is worrying, Derby's form has been disastrous and they are now without a league win in eight games, their last win coming on Boxing Day with a 2-0 victory over Fulham.

This run has led to more spending from one of the big spending sides in the division and the sacking of manager Paul Clement.

Both sides will hope to find themselves in the play-offs come May and they will hope to turn their form around on Saturday afternoon.

Here are THREE things to look out for in the game:

1) Darren Wassall looking for his first win

Derby chairman Mel Morris controversially sacked Paul Clement following a 1-1 draw with Fulham, which made it seven games without victory and he was replaced with Academy director Darren Wassall.

The move raised a few eyebrows but Morris' hopes of an immediate turnaround following the 47-year-old's appointment were dashed following a disappointing defeat to MK Dons.

The Rams travel to Griffin Park looking to finally get a win and start the turnaround for their season.

2) Defensive problems for the Bees

Brentford Head Coach Dean Smith has a number of defensive problems going into the game with Yoann Barbet the latest to miss out.

The Bees sold star defender James Tarkowski on deadline day and they failed to replace him despite receiving a significant fee for the former Oldham man.

Since Tarkowski's departure, Brentford have conceded seven goals and Smith will be desperate to shore up his side's defence and start climbing the table again.

3) Are Brentford facing Derby at the right time?

Derby are currently on the worst run in the entire division and if Brentford are hoping to mount a serious promotion push, a result over the Rams could be crucial.

Given the negativity surrounding the club on and off the pitch at the minute, now may be the perfect time to face Derby and turn around Brentford's results.

A result over Derby will shorten the gap between the two sides, and while it would still be a minimum of eight points, anything can happen in the Championship.
