Charlton Athletic are running out of time to save themselves from relegation, and today they travel to play-off hunting Brentford that crave all three points as much as the struggling Addicks.

Brentford are 13th in the Sky Bet Championship table, 12 points behind Sheffield Wednesday in sixth, and their hopes of making the play-offs are fading.

Yet, with three points this afternoon, they could keep their faint hopes of making the top six alive.

Charlton are bottom of the league and are seven points adrift of safety, with time fast running out for them to put a decent run together.

Yet, if they do not win today, they will mathematically still be able to get out of trouble. Mentally they might be resigned to the drop though, so picking up three points is vital for their hopes of survival.

FootballLeagueWorld writer Anthony Yeo identifies THREE things to look out for in the Brentford v Charlton Athletic match...

1) Yaya Sonogo

The French striker is hoping to build on his hat-trick against Reading last weekend and add to his three goals.

Against Reading, he was superb and they could not handle his pace power and movement. Unfortunately, it was all in vain as Charlton seem to be unable to stop the opposition from scoring.

If Sonogo can put in another display like last weekend, Charlton have a chance of picking up some points today.

2) Brentford's poor form

The Bees may still be targeting a play-off place, but unless they can turn their recent run of poor form around, any chance of a top six finish will be over.

Dean Smith's side have just one win in their last six games, with one draw and four defeats. It's not the form of a team competing for promotion.

In fact, their current form is exactly the same as bottom club Charlton, who they face at Griffen Park this afternoon.

3) The Addicks cannot defend set plays

Charlton are running out of time to stay in the Championship.

They have conceded more goals from set plays than any other Championship side (not including penalties).

It is these defensive frailties that have seen Charlton throw away winning positions, like last week for example.

Charlton have to find a way to stop giving away dangerous free kicks and corners but, when they do concede a corner, a basic task of picking up players in the area is a must.

They have to organise themselves better and communicate to prevent the flow of goals going in the back of their net, or claiming any points from the dangerous Bees will be beyond them.
