Brentford and Blackburn clash at Griffin Park with both sides needing some points as neither are completely safe from relegation.

Given the recent resurgence of Rotherham they are both just 7 points clear of the relegation zone with 9 games left but Brentford do have a game in hand.

Both sides meet in relegation form with Brentford losing there last 3 games on the bounce including a heavy 3-0 defeat to local rivals QPR. They have struggled to recapture the form of last season when they made the play-offs before losing to Middlesbrough and this is mainly down to poor ownership.

Their top scorer Andre Gray left for big money to Burnley, Moses Odubajo went to Hull, Alex Pritchard who made team of the season last year returned to his parent club Tottenham, Jota was loaned out to Eibar whilst Toumani Diagouraga, Jonathan Douglas, Stuart Dallas and James Tarkowski were all sold to rival Championship sides.

The players were not properly replaced and neither was manager Mark Warburton and Brentford are faltering badly and may face a fight to stay up.

Blackburn have become an established Championship side and with the Venky's in charge they should be able to maintain this status. They sold some of there best players in the summer like Rudy Gestede to Aston Villa and Tom Cairney to Fulham and have struggled to get going.

After selling top scorer Jordan Rhodes to Middlesbrough for £8 million they seemed to be playing better under new manager Paul Lambert after Gary Bowyer was harshly sacked earlier in the season but the rot has set in recently and they may face a relegation battle now.

They need Danny Graham and Tony Watt to fill the void left by Rhodes or it could be League One for Rovers next season.

Here are THREE things to look out for in today's game:

1) Can both sides end poor runs?

Both sides are showing relegation form so far and with the recent resurgence of  Rotherham which included a win over Brentford they are not safe any more.

Both sit 7 points above the relegation zone and Brentford have lost 6 of there last 7 games with there only win coming against Wolves. There taking a few hammerings as well like there 4-0 defeat to Wednesday, 3-0 defeat to Brighton and QPR.

Blackburn have lost 3 of there last 4 but are not playing as badly as Brentford with the defeats coming against better sides like Derby and Burnley. Both sides desperately need a run to get there season back on strike.

2) Can a natural striker assert himself

Last season both of these sides had established strikers up front with the deadly Andre Gray up front for Brentford who helped them into the play-offs and Blackburn had the lethal duo of Rudy Gestede and Jordan Rhodes.

But Gray went to Burnley in the summer and now Alan Judge is playing up front recently who has carried them this season and is by miles there top scorer and assist maker.

Djuricin and Vibe have shown no sort of form or ability to take over the role whilst at Blackburn it is hard to imagine Watt and Graham being adequate replacements.

3) Poor Home record v Poor away record

This is a relegation 6 pointer possibly and the side that wins will probably secure there safety whilst the side that loses may be sucked into a relegation battle.

Griffin Park was a fortress for Brentford last season where they played fast counter-attacking football and played with freedom but now their fast wingers and pressing style is gone they are giving points away.

Blackburn travel poorly too and have lost there last 3 away games without scoring a goal. A clash of different styles today and Blackburn must start scoring against the vulnerable Brentford defence.
