These two last met on Boxing Day with Bolton Wanderers succumbing to their worst loss of the season against a strong Rotherham United side at the New York Stadium.

Goals from Danny Ward, Grant Ward, Joe Newell and Jonson Clarke-Harris saw Bolton soundly defeated with no reply.

Bolton's form since then has picked up and Rotherham's good form has deteriorated thanks to recent losses, including the 3-0 loss to QPR and the damaging 4-1 loss to fellow relegation rivals Charlton Athletic.

Therefore the slate will be wiped clean this game.

Bolton picked up a 2-2 draw against Wolverhampton Wanderers last time out and will be looking to carry on with their decent home form to keep the crowd at the Macron Stadium in positive spirits.

Bolton have picked up 17 out of their 21 points at home this season, while the Millers have lost ten games on the road in the league - it all builds up to a tasty fixture.

With ten goals between the sides in their last two meetings, we can expect another high scoring game as Neil Redfearn's side look to once again strive to stay above the bottom three. They have been out of the relegation zone since their win on Boxing Day and today's fixture will be a chance for Rotherham to break further away.

FootballLeagueWorld writer Rafie Thompson identifies three things to look out for in today's game...

1) A high scoring game

The last game between the two finished 4-0 while the one before that finished 4-2 to Rotherham.

Looking even further back, the game at the Macron Stadium last season also had five goals and finished 3-2 to Wanderers, which was the last time they beat Rotherham.

With both sides conceding plenty of goals, we can expect to see another high scoring affair with the likes of Ward, Newell, Zach Clough and Liam Feeney all on show.

While both sets of fans will be having bad memories of this season so far, they can at least enjoy a great, high-scoring fixture today.

2) A Bolton win would tighten up the relegation battle

If Bolton beat Rotherham today then they would be one point behind the Millers.

After looking like they would never be able to recover their season, Neil Lennon's side have picked up some sort of momentum in recent months while the sides around them continue to struggle.

With just over a quarter of the season left to go, a win for Bolton would sound real alarm bells for all of the bottom six teams who are only seven points apart.

3) Potential for a three match unbeaten run for Bolton

If Rotherham lose or the two sides draw then Bolton will actually have made a run of three games unbeaten which is great form for the basement side.

With plenty of key players returning from injury, Bolton could well take the three points to make it two wins out of three.

Rotherham meanwhile will have lost two in a row if they are defeated today.
