Birmingham City have promotion aspirations this season, and in the third round of the FA Cup they have the chance to see how their squad compares to a team from the Premier League, when they face Bournemouth.

Birmingham will hope to make home advantage count against Premier League new boys Bournemouth, both teams are expected to field strong teams for the cup tie.

Birmingham sit eighth in the Championship only two points off the play-offs, but a good cup run will bring in some much needed cash to the blue half of Birmingham.

Bournemouth promoted last season to the Premier League have started to find their feet among the country's elite teams, and have put in some impressive displays, but today they get the a break from the relegation battle for a bit of F.A Cup magic.

Here are THREE things we think you should look out for in the match:

1) James Vaughan

Huddersfield striker James Vaughan has extended his loan from Huddersfield Town until the end of the season with Birmingham City.

The striker has not scored in his previous six matches for the Blues, yet in the absence of top scorer Clayton Donaldson he has been a real asset, and has helped create plenty of chances for his Birmingham team-mates.

The lively forward will continue his fine form and could possibly kick off his goal scoring tally today.

2) Harry Artur

Irish midfielder Artur has made eleven appearances for Bournemouth this season, and looks set to be in the starting line up for today's cup match.

He has not scored this season but the midfielder is still a danger that Birmingham will need to shut down to stop the Cherries for playing their attacking style of play.

Arter has not featured in a winning side this season and must be praying to the football gods that this will change for today's match at St Andrews.

3) Birmingham seek revenge

Birmingham City and Bournemouth have not played each other in the F.A Cup before.

However last season Bournemouth beat Birmingham in both league encounters, including a club record home defeat at St Andrews 8-0.

Birmingham will be up for beating the Premier league side, and getting their revenge by dumping Bournemouth out of the F.A Cup.
