With the new season looming above our heads, Alex Neil seems to be content with the squad he has on hand, after bringing in Alex Pritchard on a permanent deal from Premier League club Spurs.

With the exception of possibly a new striker arriving at the club, after the Canaries narrowly missed out on signing Aston Villa-bound Scottish striker Ross McCormack from Fulham, you would expect that Neil's business has been wrapped up in the transfer window.

It is certainly an exciting season to look forward too from a Norwich fan's perspective, with the main core of the Premier League side still intact, with the exception of winger Nathan Redmond, who joined Premier League Southampton, and some shrewd acquisitions having joined up with the side.

Alex Neil will be confident that he can get the Canaries promoted for the second time in 3 seasons, and anything less could well see him get the sack.

With a huge season ahead, here are 3 things to expect from Alex Neil's Norwich side this season.

A sustained promotion challenge

norwichnorwichd

If you look at this Norwich side then one thing you'll notice is that it has strength in depth.

Michael McGovern will battle John Ruddy for the starting spot, and Seb Bassong, Timm Klose and captain Russell Martin will be fighting for two spots at the centre of the defence.

It's the same case throughout the side, so injuries shouldn't pose too much of a threat to what is a quality Norwich side. Expect them to be challenging throughout the season up at the top.

Defensive work

Timm Klose

Norwich's leaky defence last season was one of the main reasons why the Canaries failed to beat the drop, and despite the addition of Timm Klose in January, work still needs to be done on this defensive unit.

Martin Olsson and Robbie Brady are set to move on to bigger and better things, and Ivo Pinto is yet to adapt to the English game.

Alex Neil will be working throughout the season to sure up his defensive line.

Goals. Lot's of goals

Naismith

Steven Naismith is arguably the finest striker in the division, having scored regularly at Premier League level with Everton before opting to join Norwich.

Expect him to bag at least 20 goals this season. Then you have Cameron Jerome, who whilst being nowhere near a Premier League quality striker, knows where the net is at this level. Wes Hoolahan, Sergi Canos and Alex Pritchard provide goals from midfield as well.

One thing for sure is there will be no problem hitting the back of the net for the Canaries this season.
