[long_read]Marcelo Bielsa will be frustrated by Kemar Roofe’s injury update, with Leeds United now set to enter a crucial run of fixtures without their top goalscorer.  Leeds confirmed yesterday that Roofe, 26, was facing a spell on the sidelines after damaging his knee ligaments in the 2-1 victory over Swansea City last Wednesday night.

Roofe had recently been switched to a No.10 role to accommodate the returning Patrick Bamford, as Bielsa looked for a way to squeeze more goals out of his attacking players.

It’s been an extremely difficult first season at Leeds for Bamford, with injuries plaguing his involvement.

However, he’s slowly worked his way back and is now set for a leading role at Elland Road.

Roofe’s had his spell in the limelight, now it’s Bamford’s turn.

Following on from that, Bamford needs to put his injury woes behind him and stay fit.

It’s been a frustrating year, with setback after setback for the former Chelsea man, but that can’t happen again.

Bamford will realise the importance of being available for Leeds’ remaining 14 games.

This time 12 months ago Bamford was hitting his very best for Middlesbrough.

In seven fixtures he scored nine goals, including a hat-trick against Leeds.

With Roofe out, Bamford will be keen to find this level to keep Leeds’ promotion push on track.
