Leeds United have set on another new manager, with owner Massimo Cellino opting for the Premier League experience of Garry Monk this time around, in the hope that the Yorkshire club can once again challenge among the elite in the Championship at the very least.

It is a tough time to be a Leeds fan at the moment however, with every day throwing up something new for the fans to read about, and the appointment of Monk has divided opinion.

However, it is what it is, and now Monk must knuckle down and try and get the best out of the squad he has at his disposal, while adding some of his own players to the mix to improve the team.

To do this Monk will need the backing of the owners and to be given full control of transfers in order to turn around the teams fortunes.

With a big summer ahead, here are THREE things what need to happen at Leeds United this summer...

Trust the manager

Owner Massimo Cellino is well known for interfering in team affairs and having his say, but it might now be time for him to step back and let his new man take full control.

Signing Monk was seen by some as a masterstroke of a move, and some fans have been left with real optimism regarding next season and what the club can achieve.

To do this though Monk needs to be given the reigns and be allowed to dictate transfers, selection, and club operations. Only by doing this will Leeds see the full benefit of obtaining this excellent young manager.

Add some goals to the team

doukara

With Mirco Antenucci leaving and Chris Wood and Souleymane Doukara hardly pulling up trees in the goal department, the Elland Road outfit need to add some more firepower to their starting line up.

They have been linked with moves for Sam Winnall, as well as Tom Bradshaw at Walsall, and both would appear to suit what the club needs at the moment.

Goals win you football matches, that much is clear, and if Leeds are to make next season a success, they must endeavour to find a 20 goal a season man over the summer.

Keep the youngsters

Lewis Cook looks set to stay at Elland Road

In Alex Mowatt, Charlie Taylor, and Lewis Cook, Leeds have some of the most sought after talent outside of the Premier League.

Keeping the young players will be vital for Monk and the club as they look to build and achieve something of significance next term.

In Cook, they have one of the divisions top midfield players and Monk will surely be doing everything in his power to keep the homegrown youngster once the bids start flying in for him. Alex Mowatt needs to rediscover his early breakthrough form, while Taylor will surely build on what has been a promising season last term.
