There's announcing new signings, and then there's announcing new signings, and Stoke City certainly turned heads on Tuesday afternoon when the Potters confirmed their first additions of the summer.

After weeks of speculation, Nathan Jones' side confirmed the signings of five new players, as the Staffordshire club look to right their wrongs from last season and ignite a push for promotion next season.

Goalkeeper Adam Davies and defender Liam Lindsay arrived from Barnsley, midfielder Jordan Cousins arrived from Queens Park Rangers and attacking midfielder Nick Powell arrived from Wigan Athletic.

The final signing came from Millwall, in the form of striker Lee Gregory. The 30-year-old recently bid farewell to The Den faithful upon the expiry of his contract at the London club, and adds to what is already a powerful strikeforce in Benik Afobe and Sam Vokes.

Here, we take a look at three things Gregory will bring to Stoke City next season...

Goals

Goals are what strikers are made for, and Gregory certainly knows how to find the back of the net.

The experienced front-man has hit double figures in each of his last four seasons, scoring 13 times and producing seven assists for Neil Harris' side last term.

You would imagine that, in a better team than Millwall, he is just going to keep on scoring more and more goals as time goes by.

Movement

A diminutive, pacey forward, Gregory is known for his pace and movement up top, which makes him a real nuisance for opposition defences.

He formed a perfect "big man, little man" partnership with Steve Morison during the majority of his time at Millwall, with Morison's aerial threat often complimenting Gregory's pace and flair in behind really well indeed.

He offers something different to what Vokes and Afobe do, and he could be a real asset for Jones' side next term.

Work-rate

To match his pace and power is his work-rate, a trait that Gregory is definitely known for.

He runs the channels well, he closes down defences, and often drops deep to collect the ball and make things happen, hence why he set up seven goals last term.

If the chips are down and you need a goal in the dying embers of a game, Gregory is your man.
