Ian Holloway has done a reasonable job at Loftus Road this season, making sure that his Queens Park Rangers side are not suffering the threat of relegation in the Sky Bet Championship.

With eight fixtures of the season remaining, QPR find themselves in a luxurious position, with Holloway’s side clear of the relegation fight.

A four game unbeaten run has pulled QPR well clear of danger, with Holloway’s side entering this weekend’s international break in 15th and firmly looking up the table.

Of course, there is very little for QPR to play for between now and the end of the season, however, Holloway will want to finish on a high and using the international break wisely will be key to doing that.

Here at FLW, we look at QPR’s recent performances and identify THREE things Holloway’s side need to be working on during the international break…

Despite a positive run prior to the international break, QPR are still vulnerable defensively, which is reflected in the 55 goals they have already conceded this season.

QPR have managed to keep just one clean sheet in their last six fixtures, conceding 11 goals in that time.

Holloway’s side are improving, but they still have work to do defensively.

Minus the impressive victory over Aston Villa, QPR are guilty of starting games slowly and having to fight their way back into a contest from a goal down.

For instance, last time out against Fulham, Holloway’s side found themselves 2-0 down, before battling back to secure a late 2-2 draw.

The result at Craven Cottage was magnificent, but Holloway’s side need to find a way for finding that intensity they showed during the second-half throughout the 90 minutes.

Holloway’s 3-5-2 formation gets bodies around Smith in attack, which is needed as the striker lacks pace.

However, going forward, QPR need to be getting more out of the striker, who has just eight goals to his name this season.

Smith is a huge aerial threat, and Holloway needs to find a way of utilising his goalscoring threat better.
