Aston Villa have sacked Steve Bruce after a tough start to the season has left the side in mid-table.

A 3-3 draw with Preston, where Villa missed a last minute penalty to win, was the final game in charge for Bruce, with the fans showing a lot of anger towards the manager once again.

The club confirmed the news on their website, with Kevin McDonald set to take charge for Saturday's clash away to Millwall.

An international break follows that, giving Villa time to search for a replacement.

And, one man who might be interested in the job is Claudio Ranieri.

The Premier League winner is out of work after a spell with Nantes last season.

Here we look at THREE things he would bring to Villa should he land the job...

Managing Aston Villa could be a daunting prospect for some, as they are a massive club in the Championship and there is huge expectation.

However, that won't faze Ranieri. He has managed Roma, Inter Milan and Chelsea, as well as at international level and in the latter stages of the Champions League.

Anyone who saw Leicester shock the world with their Premier League win will know that Ranieri can organise a side.

And, that's exactly what Villa need now. They're conceding goals for fun and it's what is holding the team back.

Fans might prefer a more attack-minded manager, but Ranieri's qualities could be exactly what Villa need.

As well as that, Ranieri knows how to win.

Obviously, the title win with the Foxes is evidence of that, but he has also recorded several promotions in his long career.

He helped Monaco to the French top-flight. as well as different clubs in Italy.
