Manchester United finally officially announced the signing of Swansea winger Dan James on Wednesday, and much has been debated about the Welshman’s credentials.

He broke on to the scene at Swansea upon their relegation in the 2017/18 season, and was one of the shining lights in what turned out to be Graham Potter’s only season at the Welsh club.

While his goal contribution record may not be as flashy as some in the league, his overall ability shone at the Liberty Stadium week in, week out.

Some on social media have labelled Dan James as a poor buy, or one that will flop instantly and be subject to the reserves, but others feel he can genuinely impact the first team and put pressure on the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Anthony Martial for a spot in the starting eleven.

Whether that will be the case or not, this signing looks one of the bargains of the summer, and certainly a risk worth taking.

Here, we list three things United fans can expect from James in the coming years.

Pace

Many of United's problems in recent years have been due to a lack of urgency, with Mourinho and Van Gaal employing more regimented styles of play.

Dan James will inject pace and energy on the wings for United, and offer something different to what they have already.

James will look to beat his man at all given opportunities and get the ball into the box, with a very direct style of wing play.

Determinism

One thing that is certain is that Dan James has a willingness to succeed and do well at Manchester United, and he has not signed just for the monetary element.

The Welshmen will fancy himself to really challenge for a spot in Solskjaer's team, where he can thrive on either wing.

No huge ego

One of the problems at Old Trafford post-Ferguson has been the personality of some of the signings they have made, and the huge ego that a lot of their players have, to mention no names.

Dan James will have a better attitude than the likes of Alexis Sanchez and although he isn't as technically gifted as the Chilean, his attitude could count for a lot, and this could give him a plethora of chances in the side at Old Trafford.
