If you were a Queens Park Rangers supporter at the start of the season, then you might have been truly excited about what you were seeing on the pitch.

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink seemed to have his players fired up and those who weren't keen to help the Hoops back into the Premier League had left.

The books were looking more settled than ever after a turbulent couple of years, and hopes were high after a solid couple of wins to kick off proceedings.

But whilst some teams have gone on to dominate games after shaky starts, the Hoops have nosedived, with this weeks' humbling 6-0 home defeat to Newcastle United the lowest point in a terrible couple of weeks for Hasselbaink's men.

So with everything crumbling before the Dutchman's very eyes, what exactly has he done this campaign to make things so bad?

To break things down, FootballLeagueWorld writer Hayden Atkins identifies THREE things Hasselbaink is getting wrong at QPR so far this season...

He's making it easy for old habits to creep back

For at least a couple of years, Loftus Road was full of high-earning individuals who were blatantly there for the money and everyone at the club knew about it.

It was well known that the Hoops were high spenders and it made no effect on the pitch as they struggled to challenge for promotion.

There was a serious lack of team spirit and, over the past couple of games, it seems like that has crept back into the dressing room.

The Hoops were toothless against a dominant Newcastle, and Hasselbaink needs to instil that sense of pride back in his players before it's too late.

There is a lack of honesty

We're coming back to the Newcastle game here, but it seemed clear that there was a lack of honesty between the players and staff after the defeat.

With the team only 2-0 down at half-time, the Hoops might have been able to get something back in the game but no-one stepped up.

There are authoritative figures in that team - the likes of Nedum Onuoha, Sandro, Jamie Mackie, Alex Smithies should all know better and have the bottle to shout if they need to.

It just didn't happen and the inevitable collapse came as the Magpies ran riot.

Too many changes

QPR were all over the place against the Toon, and it was all down to Hasselbaink's team choice on the night.

Eyebrows were raised right away as Conor Washington came in for Sebastian Polter, Yeni Ngbakoto starting ahead of El Khayati, and Steven Caulker replacing Olamide Shodipo.

These were all changes made after the 1-1 draw with Blackburn Rovers and he opted for the same 4-4-2 formation he put out against Rovers, but with players all over the place.

James Perch played in an unfamiliar position on the right-wing, whilst captain Onuoha started at right-back.

It was all a bit of a shambles.
