The managerial hotseat at Sunderland is still vacated at the moment, well after Simon Grayson was dismissed following a 3-3 draw with Bolton Wanderers.

Indeed, we've seen plenty of names linked so far, but for one reason or another the Black Cats simply haven't managed to bring someone in as the Championship action is about to resume.

However, it now looks as though there is a clear favourite for the job with Chris Coleman apparently the man leading the race for the job.

The Wales manager guided his country to EURO 2016 famously as they went close to getting into the final before seeing themselves narrowly miss out on the World Cup for next summer.

That could trigger him moving elsewhere, then, and with The Daily Mail reporting that both parties are interested in seeing the move happen, we've been thinking about the three things Coleman must do if he gets the job...

Bring some Welsh togetherness

To be fair, Wales on quality alone should not have got as far as they did with far better teams not going as far as them in the likes of EURO 2016.

What the Welsh had more than anyone else was togetherness and a willingness to fight for one another and that is what the Black Cats crave.

They've not had a good team ethic for a while and that should be Coleman's main job.

Sign young, hungry players

Coleman has impressed with the amount of youth players he has given a chance for Wales - in important games too.

The likes of Ben Woodburn scored during the World Cup Qualifiers and Ethan Ampadu and David Brooks have also now played for their nation.

Sunderland need to give Coleman the chance to bring in youthful players with everything to prove as that will spur Sunderland on instead of some of the dross they have.

Extract the best out of current talent

Another thing Coleman has done well with Wales is get the very maximum out of players - no matter their talent.

Whilst Aaron Ramsey and Gareth Bale are top footballers, Coleman has coaxed others to raise their level and he needs to do the same with Sunderland. The Black Cats have a few handy stars, the likes of Jonny Williams, Duncan Watmore and George Honeyman all possess good talent and maximising that will give them a chance.
