Swindon fans might feel a little aggrieved at how last season turned out for them.

Under David Flitcroft they'd become resolute, if not spectacular and looked in line for a top seven finish.

Then Steve Evans left Mansfield triggering a chain of events that ended with the Robins appointing Phil Brown and falling out of play-off contention.

It was a weak ending to a season of high-promise that left fans disappointed.

Brown now has the summer to make his mark, using his significant contacts within the game to build a League Two squad capable of competing with the very best.

Under Brown, Swindon look likely to change their approach somewhat and he'll hope to attract players of the calibre he's been used to working with at Southend and Preston.

There's little doubt he'll look for those he knows too, someone he's worked with before, in order to help impress his method and ideas on the rest of the squad.

To be a force they'll need to acquire several positons, both up front and at the back.

We've picked three players we think might help Swindon become a League Two force this season....

Dervite would be a massive capture for Swindon, but there's no reason why they can't make it happen. The defender was recently released by Bolton after making 14 Championship appearances.

If you want to get out of League Two you need experienced players these days and he'd fit the bill perfectly.

With Paul Mullins moving on, there's an opening for a centre forward at Swindon. John Akinde wouldn't have to move far as he's London based and guarantees a goal or two.

Since Barnet's relegation he's been on the transfer list and would make an interesting addition to Phil Brown's side.

Devitt is known to Phil Brown from his Hull City days and despite having a contract at Carlisle, he'd be a great addition to the Swindon squad.

He's a traditional wide man, something that Swindon haven't utilised much in recent seasons and he might get fans off their feet, as well as firing the Robins into the top seven.
