There are only 10 days left of the current January window and it seems like Sunderland are keen to add to their ranks as they look to at least maintain their play-off position.

Sunderland have already seen the arrivals of Kyle Lafferty and Bailey Wright this January but it appears that business may not be yet finished at the Stadium of Light.

The Black Cats currently sit sixth in the League One table and just six points off the top two, with the play-offs surely the minimum target for Phil Parkinson's side this season.

Sunderland have won four of their last five league matches and could fancy themselves as challengers for the top two, and if this ambition is to be reached it is expected that more January deals will be done.

Here we take a look at three transfers scenarios at the Stadium of Light to keep an eye out for in the next 10 days...

A midfielder will arrive

It seems to be no secret that Phil Parkinson wants to strengthen his midfield this January window, and the Black Cats have already been linked with a number of players to fill that void.

The Daily Mail reported on Monday that the Black Cats are keen on bringing Cardiff City midfielder to Wearside on loan until the end of the season but face competition from Championship sides Stoke City and Bristol City.

Sunderland have also been linked with Rangers midfielder Greg Docherty and according to Chronicle Live had got to the medical stage of the transfer before hitting a stumbling block.

This morning, Chronicle Live also reported that the Black Cats had made an enquiry about Shrewsbury's Ollie Norburn with the Black Cats seemingly persisting in signing a midfielder.

It's unclear on who will join the Black Cats in that position but it certainly seems at least one midfielder will arrive in the next ten days.

Will Grigg could be on his way out

The Northern Irishman has struggled to live up to expectations since joining the Black Cats last January, only managing one goal in 19 games this term.

Alan Nixon of The Sun reported last week that Swindon Town and Salford City are keen on helping end Grigg's Sunderland nightmare and want to bring him down to League Two on loan.

The Sun also claimed back in December that fellow League One side Blackpool were interested in the striker, and it wouldn't be a surprise to see him leave Wearside this month.

Cover for Denver Hume could arrive

Chronicle Live have reported that the left-back position is one that Phil Parkinson is also looking to strengthen in order to provide cover for Denver Hume.

Hume is the only natural left-back at the club since Laurens De Bock ended his loan spell with the club eight days ago and Parkinson is keen to add cover to the that position.

It remains to be seen who Parkinson's main target for the role is, but it is likely that there will be an addition in order to provide cover for the 21-year-old.
