Stoke City have had a relatively indifferent start to life back in the Championship.

Gary Rowett’s men sit 14th in the division having won, lost and draw four each of there first 12 matches.

After a ten year stay in the Premier League, the transition to the second tier has been more difficult than the club had initially envisaged.

Stoke have been able to keep hold of a lot of their top-flight team and added to make an immediate return to the elite where they once were.

It has not worked out as they would have liked so far and with their inconsistency, and the team hardly being changed, it could begin to make players out of favour think their chances of getting into the team as difficult.

This will filter down, too, to the youth players who will be wondering if they are going to get their chance.

Many may have thought they would be in with a should of playing a more substantial part this term having been relegated.

But that has so far yet to come to fruition, much to their dismay it would be imagined.

With that said, here are the Stoke youngsters who'll be desperate to escape on loan in January.

The 20-year-old midfielder has scored four goals in seven Premier League 2 matches and is a crucial cog in Stoke’s U23s side.

Three years ago he made his Potters debut in the Premier League but has yet to have another chance at senior level.

A move out on loan would provide Ollie Shenton with a base to kick on as it looks like he is further away from the first team at his parent club that he would possibly like.

Dan Jarvis can play wide or as a playmaker in the middle of the pitch.

He is a versatile midfield option and has been on the fringes of the first team for the last year and a half.

The 20-year-old is a key figure in the U23s squad but could look to leave the Bet365 Stadium to get the chance to play regularly for a league side in competitive fixtures.

Nathan Collins is a player who is playing beyond his years.

Having joined Stoke a year ago, he has risen through the ranks at the Potters’ academy and has stepped up to the U23s without any issues whatsoever.

He captained the Republic of Ireland U17s in the summer and is a defender who looks set to have a bright future in the professional game.

Despite only being 17-years-old he might find the challenge of men’s football on a regular basis something he is eager to try come January.
