Stoke City were once again beaten on the weekend, as Bristol City visited the bet365 Stadium and defeated the Potters by two goals to one.

Nathan Jones' side had gone ahead through Sam Clucas, but just eight minutes later, midfielder Joe Allen was shown a red card.

This swung the game in the Robins' favour and Lee Johnson's high-flying side were able to net two second-half goals to condemn Stoke to their sixth defeat in seven games.

The result leaves Stoke at the bottom of the Championship table, and with two tough games coming up against Brentford and Nottingham Forest, Jones will want to make sure that his next couple of team selections are spot on.

Here are THREE players that Stoke should consider dropping after their sixth defeat of the season...

James McClean

The left-sided player hasn't had the best start to the season is seemingly becoming a very one dimensional player in this Stoke side.

He has a lot of pace and can trouble defences with that key attribute, but overall, he's not been good enough and has become to easy to read. They need to bring in fresh skilful youngsters or put Tom Ince back out on the wing, and give McClean an opportunity to show his impact from the bench.

Lee Gregory

The striker is a good player, no doubting that, but in terms of what Jones wants to play, he shouldn't be the lone striker in the squad.

Jones picked one striker for the fixture against Bristol City and if he's doing that then it has to be one of Scott Hogan or Sam Vokes, especially in terms of hold-up play.

No denying that Gregory is a good forward, but he'd be better off as a partner to one of the other strikers.

Cameron Carter-Vickers

The centre-back hasn't been in the best of form for Stoke this season, and despite making just two appearances in the current campaign, he should take a place on the bench for the time being.

This also highlights the fact that Jones is trying different ideas but none are bringing a victory to the bet365 Stadium. He played three at the back last Saturday but failed to find a win once more, and they switched off defensively again.

They need experience in their backline, and Carter-Vickers doesn't have an abundance of that.
