The joy was clear to see on Britt Assombalonga's face this weekend just gone as he scored a crucial goal in Middlesbrough's 2-1 win over Derby.

Thanks to his Nottingham Forest connections, the Rams' fans were always going to have a pop at him but he responded in the right way as he put Boro in line for a top six spot and gave the home side another setback.

It's been a tough few months for the powerful forward but he might just be ready to go again at a crucial time for the men from Teesside:

Certainly, the first half of the campaign was a better one for the striker than this second half but if he scores crucial goals like he did at Pride Park between now and the end of the season, fans won't care about the blip.

He put in a powerful and clinical performance to remind many what Boro do have in him and it now remains to be seen if Tony Pulis keeps him in the side in the final few games.

Certainly, the forward still has some winning over to do but this weekend just gone was a fine way to start doing that.
