3 shots, 77.3% pass success rate: This Sheffield United star proved the difference against Leeds

Having spent six of Sheffield United’s last matches as an unused substitute, Blades captain Billy Sharp was recalled to the first team for the visit of Leeds United on Saturday.

Experienced hitman Sharp wasted no time making his mark on the Yorkshire derby, netting a stunning volley after just two minutes to swing the match his side’s way.

Pierre-Michel Lasogga hit back early in the second half with a bullet header but it was Sharp who had the last laugh.

When John Fleck went down under the challenge of Eunan O’Kane in the box after a smart Blades free-kick routine, Sharp took responsibility and won the game for Chris Wilder’s men.

We’ve taken a closer look at his game by numbers and found out he was extremely clinical – his two goals came from just three shots on goal – and that he also contributed a key pass during the course of the match.

Sharp’s energy mate him a nuisance throughout and his passing was solid, providing Sheffield United with the springboard to edge a tight game.
