West Bromwich Albion picked up an invaluable three points in their hunt for automatic promotion at the weekend with a 2-0 victory against local rivals Aston Villa.

The Baggies were looking to improve after a poor display against Nottingham Forest on Tuesday night, as the Baggies slipped away from the automatic promotion places.

But Darren Moore's men were rampant in the first half at Villa Park, as Jay Rodriguez' strike on the verge of half-time proved too much for Dean Smith's to come back from, after Hal Robson-Kanu had put Albion ahead.

The latter impressed in the absence of Dwight Gayle who is serving a two-game ban for simulation against Forest, and here, we take a look at Robson-Kanu's performance in further detail in this FLW Spotlight...

Robson-Kanu hasn't been the most popular of figures at The Hawthorns this term, and has often been criticised for his lack of quality and cutting edge up front - but this certainly wasn't the case at the weekend.

The Welsh international, who was taken off at half-time, rose highest to flick a deft header over Lovre Kalinic to put Albion ahead before the break.

The 29-year old was at his best on Saturday afternoon - starting on the right hand side of attack in a 4-3-3 system, the forward was a nightmare for Kortney Hause, pulling off three shots on goal and completing one successful dribble.

His link-up play was second to none too - he completed 13 passes, two of those being key passes, and accrued a pass success rate of 84.6%.

What a game for Robson-Kanu to impress in, and he will be hopeful of earning a regular starting berth after an impressive performance at the weekend...
