Fifteen minutes into last night's dead rubber at Loftus Road, you could be forgiven for thinking it was men against boys.

Queens Park Rangers raced into a huge lead with Sheffield Wednesday looking completely shell shocked as Paul Smyth and Jake Bidwell fired in early goals.

It's true that you never quite know which QPR are going to turn up, the side that smashed four past Norwich or conceded the same at Hull. Last night, rather than the side the lost 5-2 at home to Forest, we got a glimpse of the great, the free-flowing, attacking side that look likely to score with every attack.

Just after half time, 2-0 had become 4-0 courtesy of a brace from Idrissa Sylla. The 26-year old has been at QPR for almost two seasons now and his two-goal salvo put the game beyond any doubt. A late rally from the visitor cancelled out the two early goals, meaning Sylla was a double match winner and the latest recipient of FLW's spotlight.

He is believed to have cost £2.7m from Belgian side Anderlecht and last season he grabbed 12 goals in QPR colours. This season has been slower, but his 68-minute appearance certainly yielded plenty last night.

Sylla had just three shots, one of them from the penalty spot, but scored twice and ensured that QPR took all three points. The result made them mathematically safe from relegation too, although it hadn't looked likely it will be a relief to get to that points total.

Sylla put himself about plenty too, winning nine aerial duals and making a key pass for the Hoops. His pass success rate was 70.6%, a good showing for the Guinea-born striker.

QPR are now safe for another season and have plenty to be excited about. Players such as Ryan Manning, Paul Smyth and Ebere Eze look set to push them to greater heights next season and in Sylla they have an older head who can always chip in with a goal or two.
