Birmingham City continued their good form with a respectable 1-1 draw against high-flying Brentford on Saturday.

Whilst it ended their three-game winning run and meant Blues failed to close the gap on the top six, it was a good result for Pep Clotet's men and another solid performance.

There were many good individual displays for the hosts and winger Jeremie Bela once again made a good impression - as our graphic shows.

Firstly, you have to say that playing against Brentford is always tough for an attacking player. They dominate possession and push you back, so a wide player has to do a lot of tracking back, which Bela did.

With Blues happy to play on the counter, the former Albacete man was always a useful outlet on the transition with his pace and direct running style that ensured he was a threat.

Of course, every attacking player is judged on their output and Bela not only didn't score or register an assist but he also didn't provide a shot assist.

However, that can't all be attributed to the Frenchman. You have to take in the calibre of the opposition as it was a very tough game for Blues. Plus, with two goals and five assists since joining in November, Bela has shown quickly he is capable of thriving at this level.

Those attacking instincts were on display against the Bees even if he didn't score, with Bela attempting three shots and that is encouraging.

Perhaps the aspect of Bela's game that will have pleased Clotet most of all was the work he did for the team.

QUIZ: Can you name these 13 Birmingham City January signings?

As mentioned, he constantly tracked the full-back all game and made two recoveries, which shows he is happy to do a job even if it isn't the most eye-catching.

There has been a lot of change at St. Andrew's over the past nine months and it's fair to say that many of Clotet's new recruits didn't make the desired impact - with some already moving on!

But, Bela has been different. He has quickly become an important player for Blues and at 26 he could be an influential figure to the new-look Birmingham that the boss is trying to create in the years to come.
