It is no secret that Newcastle United want to add a quality attacking midfielder to their ranks this summer but they have been priced out of several moves already.

Finances have priced the Magpies out of moves for Championship duo Jack Grealish (Aston Villa) and James Maddison (Norwich City) as Mike Ashley once again keeps a close eye on the purse-strings.

So perhaps Newcastle could turn their attention towards a cheaper option, such as Hull City's Kamil Grosicki.

The 30-year-old, who is contracted to Hull until 2020, is reportedly available this summer despite hitting nine goals and five assists for his side in the Championship.

The Poland international is currently at the World Cup with his country and we shine a spotlight on his first match at the tournament, considering whether Newcastle should swoop.

Grosicki was unable to stop his side sliding to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Senegal but his personal stats were impressive.

The former Rennes winger won two fouls, had a pass completion rate of over 70 per cent and had three shots in total for his country.

He capped his display with an assist, providing a fine cross for former West Bromwich Albion man Grzegorz Krychowiak to head home.

Grosicki put himself in the shop window but is he the right fit for Newcastle?

While he would provide a decent squad option, the winger is not quite the first-team superstar Magpies fans would be hoping for.

After Brazilian starlet Kenedy impressed on loan last season, Grosicki is not an upgrade on the Chelsea man and would be little more than a useful option to have on the bench.
