Sheffield Wednesday have adapted to life back in Sky Bet League One well after suffering releagtion last season, with Darren Moore having done a good job at Hillsborough so far.

Despite not playing the most attractive football that the division has ever seen, the Owls currently occupy seventh place and will be looking to break back into the top six moving forwards into the new year.

Wednesday largely owe their fine form to the fact that they not only brought in some fresh faces but also held onto to some of their better and more experienced players such as Barry Bannan and Josh Windass.

Now with January appearing on the horizon, the Steel City club could well be keen to get active once more as they seek to further improve their squad.

Here, we take a look at THREE Sheffield Wednesday transfers that could happen next month...

Grimsby boss Paul Hurst recently admitted to Grimsby Live that no talks have taken place with Wednesday over the potential for Alex Hunt's loan to be extended with the National League side.

The midfielder is currently on loan with the Blundell Park side until January and at present is set to return to to Hillsborough when the new year rolls around.

Hunt has previously been linked with a move to both the Premier League and the Championship and has made 14 senior appearances for the Owls after progressing through from their youth academy.

The 21-year-old's current contract is due to expire next summer.

Lewis Gibson loan to end

The Everton loanee is currently sidelined through injury and now Moore has suggested that the Owls could be set to terminate his deal with the club in order for him to return to Goodison Park on a full time basis.

Gibson has only managed to play 45 minutes of League One football since joining the club and could now be set to cut short his stint in Yorkshire.

Speaking about the current situation involving Gibson, Moore had this to say recently:

"We are still in discussions now with Everton. It is possible; we are looking at the loan and if there is a possibility to extend it or is there a possibility that we both come to an agreement and end the loan.

"Both clubs are talking at the moment and both clubs will make a professional decision on it."

Ellis Harrison to Sheffield Wednesday

The Owls were previously linked with the Portsmouth striker during the summer and could well resurrect a move for him in the new year.

Harrison has largely been used as an option off the bench by Pompey boss Danny Cowley and certainly isn't happy with his situation at Fratton Park.

Also said to be a target for both Plymouth Argyle and Oxford United, the striker has still managed to find the back of the net on four occasions in 14 appearances across all competitions.

With Harrison set to be out of contract on the South Coast next summer, Pompey could be keen to cash in next month.
