Sheffield Wednesday were dealt a major blow this week with striker Steven Fletcher being ruled out for eight to ten weeks.

The striker sustained a knee injury in the Owls' 1-0 FA Cup win at Brighton last weekend and is now set to miss out until at least March for Garry Monk's side.

The 32-year-old is Wednesday current top scorer with 12 league goals s,o far this term and this latest update will no doubt come as a big blow to all those connected with the Owls.

Despite the blow, Wednesday do boast a number of attacking options in their squad who could fill the void left by Fletcher.

Here we take a look at three players who simply must step up in the wake of this injury blow...

Sam Winnall

Winnall has only managed 10 appearances so far this term for the Owls, scoring one goal, but has featured in Wednesday's last six games, including the win at Brighton.

Some may argue that Winnall had been unlucky not to get more of a run out in Wednesday's side this term but with the Fletcher news, the striker should look to make a mark on the first team.

He is goalless since returning to the side in December and should he want to nail down a regular place, he must start firing soon.

Jordan Rhodes

Rhodes is another striking option at Monk's disposal who hasn't really been prolific over the last year or so.

Although scoring an impressive first half hat-trick against Nottingham Forest in December, Rhodes has failed to score in the other 10 matches he has been involved in this term.

There is no doubting the 29-year-old's ability but he will be conscious that he must rediscover his clinical goal scoring form in the wake of Fletcher's absence.

Fernando Forestieri

Fernando Forestieri is set to back in training at the start of next week and Wednesday fans will be hoping the striker can rediscover some of his old form.

The 29-year-old has scored one goal in his last three appearances for Wednesday and once fit fans may expect to step up his performances in place of Fletcher.

The striker's contract at Hillsborough expires in the summer and he must step up over the next few weeks should he want to win a new deal at the club.
