Sometimes when you think of nostalgic seasons, fans miss out key players and focus on the goalscorers or the midfield maestro for example.

In the past decade for Sheffield United they have had more heroes than villains and this means that many get forgotten.

In the last promotion season, for example, players such as Billy Sharp take all the praise and other big assets to the side may get ignored when looking back on the team in later years with nostalgia.

It is the case with teams all around the world. If you asked someone to name three players from an ex-World Cup winning side, for example, they will name the strikers and main goalscorers rather than the key midfielder who glued it all together.

This is certainly the case at Blades, who have many unsung heroes.

Here, we look at THREE of those.

Agree, Sheffield United fans? Let us know below.

Stefan Scougall made 76 appearances for the Blades over three seasons.

He was an all-rounded midfielder so potentially didn’t get the praise he deserved at times, but he put in some good performances for the club, especially on the way to the FA Cup semi-final.

The Scottish midfielder is now at St Johnstone, where he has been blighted by injuries.

Paul Coutts hasn't scored many goals for Sheffield United in over 100 appearances, making him potentially underrated.

Despite multiple injury problems, he has been a key member of Chris Wilder’s team that may not get the praise his performances warrant.

When he leaves the club, he may leave as a club legend, though.

With all the goals that Billy Sharp has scored since rejoining the Blades, the other strikers are somewhat unsung heroes.

Leon Clarke is a top striker who has a very impressive goalscoring rate, but he doesn’t get the same praise as his partner Sharp, making him an unsung hero of this Blades side.
