It's been a tough season for Millwall so far, with Neil Harris' side only one point above the bottom three as it stands.

Whilst that would be cause for concern, the recent signs have been somewhat positive, with the Lions winning three of their last five - all at the New Den.

After their fantastic end to last season, where they pushed for the play-offs, many hoped for a similarly positive campaign this time around.

However, it hasn't happened and it was always going to be difficult, particularly with influential midfielder George Saville leaving for Middlesbrough and Ben Marshall not returning to the club.

Therefore, January could be crucial for Harris if they are to avoid a relegation scrap and here we look at THREE scenarios that will make it a successful month for Millwall...

Even though he hasn't been at his very best this season, Wallace is still a very good and important player for the Lions.

Middlesbrough were interested in the player in the summer and they could come back again in the New Year.

But, it's important that they keep hold of him if the club want to progress.

Lee Gregory has scored five goals this season, which is a decent return, but aside from him, no Millwall striker has got more than one league goal.

Clearly, that's not good enough and it means a new No.9 has to be a priority.

Harris has a few options already but they're not up to it and a new signing is imperative.

A key player in the club's fine end to last season was Ben Marshall and he hasn't really been replaced as Jiri Skalak is not making the same impact.

That has seen Shane Ferguson come from nowhere to get back in the team, which highlights their issues out wide.

Quality wingers are vital in the 4-4-2 formation that Harris uses, so he needs to find someone that can make a similar impact to the one Marshall did at the start of 2018.
