Rochdale are a team who badly need to up their game next season if they are to avoid another relegation scrap.

They were rescued on the last day of the season thanks to Joe Thompson's goal which sent Oldham Athletic down in their place.

Keith Hill has a lot of work to do this summer and needs to focus on rebuilding an ageing squad.

So far they have brought in centre-back James Finnerty, midfielders Jordan Williams and David Perkins and veteran forward Aaron Wilbraham.

But more needs to be done.

Here are three players the Dale should sign in order to turn them into a force next season.

Dale are lacking in goalscorers amongst an ageing front line. Doidge impressed massively in Forest Green Rover's debut season in the Football League, netting 17 goals.

He is a big physical presence which is always useful in League One and it's hard to believe he would not be keen to make the step up.

Another position that Keith Hill's men are badly lacking in is at right-back. One man they could look to sign is MK Dons' George Williams.

Despite MK's dismal season, Williams still showed he is League One standard right-back, chipping in with a goal and three assists along the way.

Hamilton gives Rochdale some much-needed options on the left wing. He scored two goals and racked up seven assists for Mansfield in League Two last season and looks capable of making the step up.

He is also available on a free transfer as well making him all the more tempting a prospect.
