Queens Park Rangers have endured another inconsistent season in the Sky Bet Championship, but there have been some good signs under Steve McClaren’s side during his first year at Loftus Road.

Amongst all that inconsistency there was a victory over Leeds United recently, with the R’s ending a seven-match unbeaten run against a side battling for promotion.

However, the matchwinner that night, Luke Freeman, has now emerged as a transfer target for Leeds, with talkSPORT highlighting Marcelo Bielsa’s interest in the 26-year-old.

Freeman has seven goals in the Championship this season and a further four assists, with the midfielder comfortably QPR’s biggest threat in the midfield.

If he was to depart he’d need replacing, no matter how precarious QPR’s financial position has been in recent times.

With that in mind, we take a look at three players QPR must have under consideration…

[snack_break title="Marcus Maddison"]

Maddison has been impressive at Peterborough over the years, with the 25-year-old registering 12 League One assists this season.

He’s a creative influence in the third-tier and has shown signs that he’s ready to step up.

There’s an element of risk with a signing like this, but QPR might have to take one without Freeman.

[snack_break title="Izzy Brown"]

Coincidently, Brown is currently on loan with Leeds from Chelsea.

He’s recovering from a long-term injury problem and hasn’t been much use to the Whites this season because of that.

Where he’s playing his football next season is unknown, but QPR could be a good destination for him to rediscover his best when he’s fully fit.

[snack_break title="Sammy Ameobi"]

Admittedly, Ameobi is a different type of player to Freeman, with the Bolton winger having an unpredictability about him.

That unpredictability makes him a threat in the Championship, although he lacks Freeman’s craft.

However, he’d be an interesting alternative on the wing.
