Barnsley were relegated down to League One at the end of the last campaign and were therefore bound to see themselves raided and some of their best players taken this offseason.

One of the latest names to be sold on by the Tykes is Callum Brittain, who has now been given a chance in the Championship again thanks to Blackburn Rovers.

He played a total of 36 games in the league last year for the side and bagged three assists but it wasn't enough to keep the Oakwell outfit in the division. He was arguably one of their most important players over the course of the season but he'll now be heading out of the exit door at Barnsley.

With the Tykes now needing a replacement, here are three players who the club could snap up and put in his place at Oakwell.

Mitchell Clark - Accrington Stanley

One of the first names they could look to might be in League One with them next season.

That's because a good signing as a replacement for Callum Brittain could be Mitchell Clark, who currently plies his trade for Accrington Stanley. The 23-year-old has been excellent for Stanley in the third tier so far and managed a total of 25 games in the division for the club last time around.

Considering the player's age and his other experience - he's been in the youth ranks at Leicester and has already tried his luck in the fourth tier with Port Vale - he already has plenty going for him. With a deal potentially not breaking the bank either, it could be a deal worth pursuing for the Tykes.

Connor Randall - Ross County

Barnsley are not blessed with a huge transfer budget, so they may be forced to try and find bargains or diamonds in the rough to replace Callum Brittain.

One name that could fit the bill for the Tykes is Connor Randall, who currently plays for Ross County in the Scottish Premier League. He's played in England before (albeit only once as a 22-year-old for Rochdale in the third tier) and has also got plenty of experience in Scotland and even Bulgaria to draw upon at Oakwell.

For County, the player managed 29 outings for them in the league last season and looked solid enough on the right flank. Having been on the books at Liverpool, he clearly has some talent and another chance at Barnsley could help him kick on in England.

Cameron Norman - Newport County

One final transfer option for Barnsley as a replacement for Callum Brittain is Cameron Norman at Newport County.

Again, Norman as a player is not a name that might get Barnsley fans too excited at first glance but it could be a shrewd move by the club. The player would likely be available for relatively cheap which ticks that box and he played in all of his team's games last season so the 26-year-old also has plenty of experience in the EFL already.

His goal contribution return was also higher than Brittains, albeit it was in a lower league. The outgoing Barnsley man managed three assists and Norman instead managed one goal and five assists. If he could carry that form up two divisions, it could be a good move.

Considering the player's price, his age and the ability to get forward and contribute in attack as well as defence, Norman could be an astute signing for Barnsley.
