Derby County left back Max Lowe, currently on loan at Aberdeen, has suggested that he isn't keen on a return to Pride Park in January if it can be avoided.

Lowe is currently getting games for the Dons as they fight for a European spot in the Scottish Premier League, but his route to the first XI is blocked at Derby.

Scott Malone and Craig Forsyth are battling for the vacant left back spot and with Marcus Olsson to come back from injury, chances would be at a premium.

Lowe told press that whilst he was learning and developing at Aberdeen, he didn't see why he should push for a return to the East Midlands.

Those comments are likely to be well received around Pittodrie and show a commitment to playing games and learning, rather than trying to get a head start back with his parent club.

There's definitely value in staying north of the border for Lowe and FLW looks at three reasons why you can't blame him for wanting to stay put, for now.

The competition is fierce at Derby and Lowe would likely find himself playing Under 23 football with the occasional spot on the bench.

That isn't going to help him develop, he needs senior football at a good level and he won't get it by going home.

Aberdeen are a big club, they play Celtic twice and Rangers once in December, who wouldn't want that?

The attendances at Pittodrie might not be up to Pride Park standard, but those big games come thick and fast and that'll be great experience for Lowe.

He could quite easily lift the Scottish League Cup, his Aberdeen side are in the final on December 2nd against Celtic.

Winning trophies is what being a footballer is all about and Lowe has a chance to do just that. regular football, big games, silverware; it's surely the ideal loan spell.
