Patrick Bamford and Kemar Roofe offered Leeds United two outstanding option in attack during the first month of the season.

Leeds put plenty of faith in the latter, who scored four goals over the month of August and won the Player of the Month award.

Bamford was limited to League Cup appearances, but the general feeling was that his time would come.

However, heading to Millwall this weekend, Leeds are without both, with injuries beginning to pile up against Marcelo Bielsa.

Bamford is out for four months, whilst Roofe is sidelined with a calf injury, which is expected to keep him out for three weeks.

In their absence at Millwall, it is expected that Tyler Roberts will be involved.

The 19-year-old is yet to start in the Championship for Leeds, but Bielsa has little option but to hand him an opportunity at the New Den.

Here at FLW, we take a look at THREE reasons Roberts simply has to take his chance…

Bielsa has used Roberts wide on the right in the League Cup fixtures he’s featured in, but his favoured position is through the middle.

Bamford and Roofe will return in time, and they will knock Roberts back down the pecking order.

However, if he takes his chance, he might work his way into Bielsa’s thoughts.

Roberts is the obvious choice at Millwall, but there are others Bielsa could consider.

Samu Saiz could play as a false 9, whilst Ryan Edmondson is pushing for a first-team chance.

If Roberts doesn’t impress, Bielsa could try something different against Preston during the week.

Moving away from Roberts on a personal level, Leeds need a big performance at the New Dean, where they've only won twice in the last decade.

Roofe had been producing those big performances, particularly away from home, now Bielsa needs Roberts to step up and lead the line with purpose.

Leeds have enjoyed a great start to the season, and if they can continue it at Millwall, the Whites can gather some more momentum to carry them through a difficult period.
