Despite Birmingham City manager Pep Clotet bringing in a total of 16 new players during this summer's transfer window, the City boss is still looking for potential recruits to strengthen his squad after what has been a largely positive start to the season for the Blues.

One player in particular who may soon be signing on the dotted line at St Andrew's is current free agent, 26-year-old central midfielder Josh McEachran, with the club confirming that he is on trial there.

With McEachran having been released at the back end of last season by former club Brentford, the midfielder could prove to be an interesting signing for the Blues. Here are THREE reasons why he could be a good fit for the club ...

Championship experience

Unlike some of his potential teammates, McEachran possesses a wealth of Championship experience, with the former Chelsea player having turned out for Brentford in England's second tier on over 100 occasions during his four-year spell with the Griffin Park side.

This experience will help the likes of Ivan Sunjic in the long run.

Adds much-needed creativity from central areas

McEachran will add an abundance of creativity to a Birmingham side that mostly relies on goals from crosses and set pieces at present.

His pinpoint through balls should provide the service that the likes of Lukas Jutkiewicz and Alvaro Gimenez can thrive on, whilst also adding a different dynamic to Birmingham's style of play.

Provides another option for Clotet in midfield

The potential addition of McEachran would allow Blues manager Pep Clotet to experiment with a three man midfield, with Sunjic playing in a holding role that would allow Davis and McEachran to have the licence to support City's attacks.

With the two taking it in turns to perform a box to box role when in or out of possession, this will help to provide balance to the team.
