Stoke City yesterday confirmed the appointment of Luton boss Nathan Jones as their new manager, with the highly-rated coach looking to guide them back to the Premier League.

Obviously, it was not the news that the Hatters wanted as Jones had taken the to League One and now has them competing for a second successive promotion.

Currently, they sit second in the table ahead of a huge clash against third-placed Sunderland at the Stadium of Light this weekend.

Therefore, losing your manager at this stage of the season and with these big games on the horizon is not ideal.

But, is it really the devastating blow that some are making it out to be?

Here we look at THREE reasons why Luton fans should remain optimistic about this season and the general direction the club are going in...

They have good players!

Firstly, you have to say that Luton have a very good squad.

Of course, Jones deserves credit for that as he brought many to the club, but the point is that whoever takes over will be inheriting a side that are extremely capable.

They will be able to attract good managers

Following on from that, the League One side won't be struggling when it comes to naming a replacement.

Plenty of very good coaches out there will see this as a real opportunity to be taking over a club that could be in the Championship next season.

They have to find the right man but there will be a lot of impressive candidates interested.

The club are in a strong position

Finally, they are a club that is in a strong position on the whole too.

There are good people above the manager and there are good people who work behind the scenes.

You have to give Jones immense credit for how he turned the club around but it wasn't all down to him and influential figures remain at Kenilworth Road and they will want the club to continue to progress.
