When Ben Woodburn arrived at Bramall Lane, many Sheffield United fans would have expected the youngster to have no problem at all in forcing his way into Chris Wilder's starting XI.

But the youngster has been restricted to just one league start for the Blades this season, which will be hugely disappointing for both Woodburn and the Sheffield United supporters.

Chris Wilder's side have made an impressive start to the season and are currently 4th in the Championship table and are just three points adrift of Norwich City who currently sit top of the pile.

It seems difficult to see much of a future for Woodburn with the promotion chasing Blades and Liverpool seem to be keen to put an end to his disastrous spell at Bramall Lane.

According to Goal, Klopp is set to recall the youngster, and Woodburn will hope to gain some regular first-team opportunities elsewhere with many Championship clubs likely to be pursuing a deal for the Welsh youngster.

But could the Blades live to regret not using Woodburn this season in his loan spell?

We look at three reasons why they'll certainly regret it here....

The loan move to Sheffield United in the summer was Woodburn's first loan move of his career and it's safe to say it hasn't gone as well as he would have hoped.

If the youngster is to fulfil his exciting potential, then he will be hoping to prove himself in senior football this season in order to stake any sort of claim for Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool side when he returns in the summer.

The Welsh youngster has already shown the potential he has with a number of impressive performances for the Liverpool under 23's side and for Wales on the international stage.

His potential is there to see for all, and it will have certainly come as a shock to many who would have thought that Woodburn could play a vital part in Sheffield United's promotion push this season.

Woodburn would arguably get into the majority of Championship clubs if he is on form and given a fair run in the side.

But with his limited game time, he will have a point to prove in his next loan move, if he is to have his spell with the Blades cut short.

He could come back to bite them if he was to move to a Championship promotion chasing rival in January as he could develop into an excellent player, providing he is given regular game time.
