Sheffield United remain unbeaten in 12 in League One, and romped to a 6-0 win over Leyton Orient in the FA Cup earlier today.

New manager Chris Wilder has managed to fully turn around last years terrible form and attitude, and there is a real sense of belief around the club now that this might finally be the season they win promotion back to the Championship.

The Blades look excellent at home and solid away from home, and play an exciting brand of football which is reaping the rewards with goals aplenty.

They have quality across different areas of the pitch, and are backed by the biggest numbers in the division when it comes to fans.

All this shapes up pretty well for United heading into winter.

With this in mind, FLW writer Lee Connor takes a look at THREE reasons why the Blades will be League One champions come May...

A never say die spirit

One of the biggest things Wilder has instilled in the club since he took over is a never say die spirit from his players.

This has been on display numerous times this season already, with the Blades coming from behind at Bradford and Fleetwood to earn points, while converting plenty of potential draws into wins at home.

It is this attitude which is seeing them over the line and getting the crucial points on board which could make all the difference come May.

If United can keep up the same sort of form and keep grinding out results with their passion and attitude, they will not be far off the top at the end of the season.

The team has goals galore in it

Billy Sharp is the one who normally takes all the goalscoring plaudits, and rightly so given he hit over 20 last time out and is already in double figures this term.

However the big difference now is that other players can help out. Leon Clarke is not even fit yet, and nor is Caolan Lavery, both capable goal getters in League One.

Matt Done works hard and picks up scrappy goals, while Chris Basham and Ethan Ebanks-Landell are dangerous from set pieces. Paul Coutts has finally started adding goals to his game, while Harry Chapman and Stefan Scougall off the bench offer a real threat for United.

With all this coming together, the Blades should have enough in terms of hitting the back of the net to get enough wins to take the title come season end.

A rediscovered identity

One thing United fans have been mystified with over the last few seasons is the seemingly lack of identity the team has.

Under Neil Warnock, they were renowned for being hard to beat, under Nigel Clough it was similar, tough and difficult to break down. Last year under Adkins, they had nothing about them.

Chris Wilder has got this back. They have a set formation which is working, but can be flexible. They have players wanting to play for the club and prove a point, and they have the fans back on side in mass at home and away games.

The Blades are finally showing their presence in League One like a club their size should be, and it bodes well for the club to finally get back to the Championship for the 2017/18 season.
