With news breaking today that Norwich City could be set to consider Roy Hodgson as their new manager, the Canaries fans will no doubt be debating amongst themselves as to whether he will be a good appointment.

The former Inter Milan, Liverpool, and England manager is certainly a man with pedigree and experience, but is he what Norwich need right now?

Things are not going well at Carrow Road. A positive start has seemingly ended, and 5 defeats in a row in the league have left Alex Neil under serious pressure following yesterday's defeat to Derby County.

If Norwich are to turn it round, they will need to either stick with Neil and show some faith, or make their move for a new manager before January.

With Hodgson in the frame, FLW writer Lee Connor looks at THREE reasons why Roy Hodgson might just be the right appointment for Norwich...

Bags of experience

At 69, Hodgson has all the experience needed to turn round a sinking ship.

He has managed at some of the top clubs in Europe and done so successfully at times, while he had enough pedigree to be given the England job and lead them through qualifying unbeaten, before a disastrous Euro's saw him out of a job.

However, for Norwich he could be ideal. He is an excellent man manager, has dealt with some big egos in the past, and knows how to get a team playing together. He might just be the man the Canaries need right now.

Ability to attract top players

Despite his tenure with England ending badly, Hodgson would still be a big draw for any players potentially wanting to sign for Norwich.

Hodgson, as I mentioned, has worked at some top top clubs, and will no doubt have a huge network of contacts to try and attract better players to Carrow Road.

If Hodgson could do this and bring in some top talent, it would help immensely in turning round what has been a miserable few weeks for the club.

A steady pair of hands

Hodgson

Norwich took a risk on Alex Neil when they appointed him, but it was a risk which paid off as he guided them to the Premier League in his first season.

This time round though, the board may just want to employ someone who can steady a ship and essentially be a safe pair of hands at the club. Hodgson fits that bill perfectly.

He might not guide them to promotion, but he would get things right and put some of the basics and foundations back within the club, something which is needed no matter what level of football you play or manage at.
