Reading have endured a disappointing start to the their Championship campaign, with many fans fearing relegation this season under Paul Clement.

They could be dealt more bad news this season, as one of the club's brightest young prospects could potentially be heading for the exit door at the Madejksi Stadium.

Danny Loader has been in excellent form this season for both the Reading under 23's side and the England under 19's team.

But his recent impressive run of form hasn't gone unnoticed, with a number of European clubs tracking the Reading striker.

According to the Daily Mail, Loader was watched by scouts from Borussia Monchengladbach, Hertha Berlin, Wolfsburg and Lille ahead of a potential move in January.

The scouts would have been impressed with his performance as he scored against the Moldova under 19's on Wednesday evening.

But what would a move for Loader do for Reading in January?

We look at the reasons why the latest transfer development will be concerning news for Royals fans.

Find out what those reasons are here....

If you ask any Reading fan who the brightest young prospect is at the club, the majority will say Danny Loader.

The youngster has been in incredible form for both club and country, so certainly has a point to prove.

If he is given the chance, he would be sure to impress and is the future of the club.

Reading have made an extremely poor start to the season this year, but we are still yet to see Paul Clement experiment with his squad.

Loader has only been in the match-day squad on one occasion this season but is yet to start a game for the Royals.

Clement is facing questions about his future and if he was to give Loader a chance, then he could steer the side clear of their relegation fears.

He would be worth the gamble in this Reading side this season.

The man at the centre of the downfall of Reading in recent seasons has been Ron Gourlay (pictured) and if he was to sell Loader, then it would anger the club's supporters.

If Reading have any ambition, then they will do everything they can to secure the long-term future of the youngster as quickly as possible.
